Creating a fun Bible memory card system is a wonderful project. You can make your own and act as creatively as you wish, or you can purchase an already-made set. What is most important is that whatever you design is what will work for you, for this time and in the future.
With a DIY Bible memory card system, one great thing is that it is free. You might have to dig up some old index cards or writing utensils and stickers, but overall, it’s usually the most affordable way to go. Plus, you can involve your children and really do a project as a family!
If you decide to purchase an already-made memory card system, the time and effort will be less, but it might cost a little, especially if the cards are already written out with the words from the Bible that you are currently working on memorizing. Let’s explore how to make one!

While it is fun and helpful to memorize Bible verses, you will likely need a Bible memory card system if you want to continue to have a lot of Scriptures planted in your heart. You need a review system that you can follow each day so that you will retain this information.
As a side note, the Holy Spirit will reveal Scriptures to you as you imprint them in your heart. However, we are still meant to do our part when it comes to our faith. In other words, don’t be lazy with your faith; make every effort to serve the Lord our God.

The 45-Piece Bible Memory Card System originated with Educator Charlotte Mason. It is not meant to challenge you too much. Rather, this Bible memory card system is meant to help you learn your current verses well and review the verses you learned in an easy way.
If you only think about or look at the verses you have memorized occasionally, you will likely not retain them well. We need constant reinforcement when learning something new. The FREE 45-Piece Bible Memory Card System should be used daily for best results.
While we will go through the different pieces of the 45-Piece Bible Memory Card System in a bit, I’d like to remind you that you do not have to use this system to retain Scripture. You can have a family challenge, repeat the verse over and over again, or find a game on your phone to learn.
However, if you have a strong system for memory and remembering what you believe you know, you will likely feel more at ease. A system like this keeps you organized and on task. It’s important to have a plan when you decide to memorize Scripture.
If you don’t have a plan, you’re unlikely to succeed.
How to Set Up a Bible Memory Card System
With these steps, you can easily set up a Bible memory card system.
Step One – Collect the Materials.
You might want to grab the free 45-piece Bible memory card system that I made based on the Charlotte Mason system we spoke of earlier.
Additionally, you can purchase your own card box (which you will need either way) that comes with the dividers. You may be able to buy the dividers by themselves.

Step Two – Pick 100 Memory Verses, and Make Your Cards.
You are welcome to purchase the Bible memory cards that I have made in advance. I used the 2024 batch for the first ones I learned. I taped each printable card to the front of an index card to make it sturdy. Add washi tape, and see where the decorating bug takes you.
Step Three – Put Together the Items in Your Bible Memory Box.

How to Use the Free Bible Memory Card System
Follow these instructions to see how to put together the free Bible memory card system.
Daily Divider (1)
The daily divider has cards that you will review every day. You might even put the new cards you wish to learn. For example, once you have reviewed your daily cards on Monday, you could add the cards you want to learn from the beginning tomorrow under this divider.
Even and Odd Dividers (2)
If Monday falls on March 3, you will want to place the cards you wish to review on that day under the odd divider. March 4 would go under even. Does that make sense? You can put cards that you’ve gotten correct at least once under one of these two dividers.
Days of the Week Dividers (7)
The days of the week dividers are pretty obvious. You would add cards you wish to review only once a week under one of the days of the week dividers. If you want to review John 3:16 one day a week, add it to Wednesday’s divider to review it every Wednesday!
Days of the Month Dividers (31)
These dividers correspond with the days of the month. Keep in mind that not all months have 31 days. When you have that extra divider (31), you might want to only put cards behind it that you know very well. For the rest of the dividers, it is recommended that you review cards monthly.
