First, you need to think about what brings you closest to your faith. If you think that writing out Bible verses is pointless, then you should not invest a considerable amount of time in that spiritual habit.

Second, what draws you near to God? Do you love hearing or reading His Word? Are you a writer? The Word of God might resonate more with you when you write out Scriptures by hand. You could combine the two spiritual habits, or find a way to do both in your Quiet Time.

How to Create a Bible Plan and Resources to Help

Learn how to create a Bible plan, whether it is for reading or writing. Use the relevant links I have provided below for help, or just open your Bible and turn to your favorite verses – whatever works for your Bible plan.

#1. Pray.

Before you begin any endeavor for the LORD, pray. Ask God to lead and guide you. You want Him to lead you because He’ll show you the way to go, if you ask. I recommend praying for guidance when you create your Bible plan, and He will give you directions.

#2. Decide what kind of Bible plan you want to make.

Decide if you would like to create a Bible plan for reading or writing (or both). If it’s for reading only, you’ll need to choose between a topical Bible plan or a monthly Bible plan. I enjoy making topical ones because you can search the Bible for the Scriptures on that topic.

#3. Be at peace before you begin making your Bible plan.

I’ve noticed that when I do something for the LORD and am already in a bad mood, it doesn’t turn out well. Pray aloud along the way to see how God wishes to guide you. He’ll nudge you if you listen to God. Meditate, pray, or sit and read your Bible to bring peace to those bad days.

#4. For a topical Bible reading plan, research related verses.

One way to find verses that relate to the topic that you have chosen to make your Bible reading plan about is to use the Open Bible. What a lifesaver! I use it all the time and just love it! Just enter a verse you’d like to find related verses on the website, and tons will appear!

#5. Thank God for steering you along the way.

When you have completed a work for the LORD, it changes you. It can be a difficult task or a fun challenge, but it usually takes a lot of work on your part. Thank the LORD for getting you through it. Tell Him of the ups and downs you went through along the way.
