How I Pray for My Husband (10+ Ways and Prayers)

Often, I am asked what methods I use when I pray for my husband. I love coming up with new ideas and brainstorming for original ways to use prayer as part of one’s life!

When I think of my husband, it often brings me joy. However, there are always days when even the best intentions of another person won’t pull me straight out of a funky mood. For this reason, it’s a great idea to have prayers written down or prepared in some other way.

If I know that my husband will be traveling a longer distance than normal for work (he is a truck driver), I will pray for my husband regarding his safety. Maybe he is having a stressful time at work. In that case, I pray for my husband while he is dealing with work stress.

In each instance, it’s always smart to personalize your prayers by putting them into your own words. Cater them for your husband! The prayers and techniques provided for you in this article are only a guide. You can create your own prayers based on these examples. Let’s get to it!

Why I Pray for My Husband

Perhaps the most obvious answer as to why I pray for my husband is that I love my husband. He takes care of me and treats me well. We have a timeless marriage – one for the ages, and I respect him and only want the best for him. He truly is my best friend and soulmate.

I’m sure there are traits about your husband that you love and hate. Maybe you hate the way your husband comes home after work in a bad mood. Perhaps this is telling you that he needs more prayer in this area. I pray for my husband at work all the time.

It’s always smart to reach your husband in the area where he is struggling or the area where he needs the prayers most. All in all, it’s a great idea to cover every base! Consider spreading your areas of prayer out across many days so that he is fully covered.

Prayer helps us see past our own issues and move toward focusing on the impact that God has in all of our lives. It’s a great means of connecting with our Lord. You can strengthen your relationship with God and see how He makes a difference in your life each day through prayer!

How I Pray for My Husband (4 Creative Ways to Pray)

Here are four creative ways to pray for your spouse. Of course, these are ways that I pray for my husband. Use the ideas as inspiration to come up with something that works perfectly for you and your marriage, and remember that God always listens to our sincere prayers!

Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful. – Psalms 16:20

#1. How I Pray for My Husband Fervently with a War Binder

The enemy is crafty. This means that there will be times when you need to pray deep prayers for your husband. Maybe he is very ill or in the hospital getting tests run. Perhaps your marriage is in jeopardy. He might be trying to break a bad habit or addiction

So, how I pray for my husband when times are tough involves a war binder or war notebook. The idea came from a Priscilla Shirer movie called the War Room. I basically just created a 5-subject spiral notebook with added Bible tabs (labeling them myself).

When I pray using this notebook or war binder, I typically will turn on praise and worship music to center myself and block out any distracting noises. I do this so that I can best concentrate on praying to God. I want Him to know that I am listening and pouring out my heart to Him!

I typically only pray this way when I’m going through a difficult time, as I have categories for various situations. For example, if I am feeling apathetic about things, I have a category called “Apathy.” I also have one for anxiety, depression, worries, and at least 20 more things!

Basically, how I pray for my husband is to go to the “husband” tab and pour out my heart. I write out my prayers or read ones that I have already written. In other words, I speak to God to let
Him know what is on my heart. You could use a prayer journal or even the computer to do this!

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. – Philippians 4:6

#2. How I Pray for My Husband with a Prayer Binder and Prayer Cards

As I’ve mentioned in other articles, I do pray for my husband daily using a prayer binder. My prayer binder, like my war binder or war notebook, is divided into categories (I love being organized). One tab is for my husband, Bryan.

In the section for my husband, I have various printables that tell me different things to pray for. So, if I am praying on the 4th of the month, I would usually use the fourth item on each list. I keep track of this with tabs or page markers. You could use paper clips if you set it up correctly.

Let’s say it is the fourth of the month. In that case, maybe my printables guide me to pray for my husband’s safety, health, co-workers, faith, and some other things. It really all depends on how many sheets of printables you decide to use and how you wish to pray for your husband.

When I’m praying for my love, I will typically say a prayer for each item that I come across. At the same time, I use a small piece of paper or index card to list the things I am praying for that day. I add today’s date to the top of the card and give it to my husband.

If you decide to do this, you could just write “How I Prayed for You” at the top of the index card or piece of paper. For my husband, this just shows him what to watch for and how I prayed for him. It’s not meant to brag about my spiritual life, just to show him how God spoke to me.

Why Pray Like This?

Why do I pray for my husband this way? Basically, I just want him to look out for those things. If one item is patience, he knows to keep his deep breathing exercises in mind and watch himself throughout the day, as those items might be where he is attacked today.

Of course, this is just one of the ways that I pray for my husband. It might work totally differently for your family! Be sure to create whatever works best for you. This is just an example of one way to accomplish praying for your husband.

If this method works for you, consider adopting it for your children or anyone else you pray for on a daily basis.

Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. – Psalm 55:22

#3. Setting Up Smartphone Reminders to Pray for My Husband

There are dozens of smartphone applications that you can use to pray for your husband. You can use one that sends you reminders to pray for your man. I enjoy using the Prayerminder application, but you can just set your phone’s default reminders to tell you it’s time to pray.

How often do I pray for my husband? I’ll be honest; not every day is the same. If I am in the middle of something and am reminded to pray for my husband, I will often not pray or will just say a very short prayer of gratitude. I’m far from perfect in this area.

When I use reminders, I set them to go off once an hour. Keep in mind that this is just what works for me. It might be a completely different story for you and your spouse. We all have different time restraints, so you might not be able to take a break once an hour.

Be sure to make these suggestions fit your life. However, you should challenge yourself to step outside of your comfort zone. You don’t want to be lazy about praying. Find a balance when it comes to praying for your husband to figure out how often you want to pray for him.

If your husband is going through a tough time, you might wish to pray a little more frequently than usual. Also, if you know he has something going on at a certain time, set a reminder to pray during that meeting or job interview. God always listens!

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His Will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him. – 1 John 5:14-15 (NIV)

#4. How I Pray for My Husband with Prayer Cards

I frequently use prayer cards to pray for my husband. I add the date to the prayer card so that we can always look back and see how God has answered my prayers for the love of my life. So, to aid in doing this, I’ve created FREE prayer cards in the shop!

With these prayer cards, you can write out the keywords that you used during your prayer for your husband or just write out the whole prayer you prayed for your husband. I find this to be especially helpful when I want my husband to watch out for certain negative things today.

What’s great about these cards is that I can easily pray for my husband with them and allow him to take the prayer cards with him during the day. He puts them in his wallet, and I’m hoping one day he will say that something I prayed for him impacted him on that day.
