Why It’s Important to Start Trusting God in Difficult Times
Have you noticed that times have changed? We can no longer “be nice” and expect that to be enough. Acting like a Christian on Sundays or only on certain holidays while being someone else the rest of the time – this duplicity is now noticed by Christians and non-Christians alike.
While it is true that Christ paid the full price for us, and we cannot “earn” our salvation, as God’s children, we ought to trust Him completely with every part of our lives. Otherwise, we aren’t truly showing we have any faith. How can you have faith in something if you don’t trust it?
For example, you trust your transportation (usually a vehicle) to get you from one place to the next because you have faith in it since it has been reliable in the past. Granted, that might not be the best example since vehicles frequently need to be repaired, but you get my point.
Just like you can (most of the time) trust your vehicle to get you from point A to point B, your vehicle probably (if it were to have an imagination or thought life) doesn’t expect you to pull into an empty parking lot and tear it into pieces with your bare hands.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust God in difficult times and not rely on our strength alone. The more you submit your cares to Him and lean on Him, the more natural it will feel. Over time, your trust in God will grow stronger and stronger.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6
Trusting God has profound results and keeps you grounded.
When you trust in THE Higher Power (there is only ONE), you have submitted your life to Him. You are trusting and turning yourself over to Him. That means that you get to reap any blessings that come out of your belief – the perks that accompany your faith!
Unfortunately, no one can guarantee that you will see great blessings now in terms of a financial reward or something, but one day, you’ll see how God did everything for a purpose. It’s truly astounding when we are able to see profound results during our time here on Earth.
Because you are grounded when you completely trust God, you are able to reap the rewards of the continuous cycle illustrated below. Maybe you are stuck in hard times. Perhaps you are full of joy and hope right now. Wherever you are, God knows, and He will meet you there.
Be still, and know that I am God. – Psalm 46:10
Step 1 – Trusting God gives you hope.
Have you ever just let something go, giving it to God completely? Perhaps an addiction or person has a hold on you that you just cannot shake. This is perhaps a situation that is robbing you of joy. Turn to God. Allow Him to fight your battles, and watch hope and peace spring up!

Step 2 – Going through difficult times builds perseverance.
While no one would want to experience hardships, by going through these difficult moments, you grow! You might have greater stamina or more patience because of a trial you’ve experienced. Perhaps you were meant to have tough times to prepare you for the future.

Step 3 – Perseverance builds character.
So, what is the purpose of perseverance? One benefit is that it helps build character. You become the person you were created to be by pressing on during those moments when you really just want to call it quits. While we might not see it now, there is a purpose in everything.

Step 4 – Building character produces hope.
What does it mean to have more character? It is all about resilience. It is about you growing from a spiritually immature person into your role as a child of God. Where do you fit in His Kingdom? This will certainly help you think about the future, giving you a big dose of hope.

Step 5 – Having faith illustrates that you trust God.
Finally, when you have faith, you are showing the world that you trust God’s plan for your life, that you believe all things work for the good of those who love Him, and that you will continue to rely on His way over your own. Never give up. Now, return to step 1 to see an amazing circle.

When you prevail despite what the enemy throws at you, you show others how God can work in our lives. If you persevere through battles by using the armor of God, you show others how they can do the same, and you illustrate how powerful those weapons are in spiritual warfare.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank Him for His answers. – Philippians 4:6
Quotes about Trusting God in Difficult Times
I have often heard people get upset because a quote came from someone they no longer believe is “Christian.” Instead of having this judgmental attitude, let’s try to give people grace and listen to the words from their mouths rather than their actions.
It is far better to learn from people we do not agree with completely than it is to judge them. We do not usually know the whole story, so take the words of these quotes about trusting God in difficult times and apply what you can to your life in a positive way. Judgment is for God only!
