What is RAOK?
If you’d like to do a RAOK, meaning Random Act of Kindness, for someone, that is a very sweet and caring gesture. You could do something as simple as dropping a note to someone who is struggling, letting them know you are praying for them.
Additionally, you could send them some post-its, highlighters, or stickers – something small that would be fun and exciting for some people. When you do something like this, it will brighten their day and boost their spirit. Giving is powerful.

It takes courage to be kind. – Maya Angelou
My Experience
I used to write soldiers who did not have any family. It was such a rewarding experience. By the time they wrote back, it seemed like they got more out of the letters I would send, but I promise you, I needed that experience more than they did. Giving to a stranger in need is so satisfying.
Because I wanted it to be about them, not me, I eventually did not read the letters I would get in return from my RAOK. That may sound crazy or a little weird, but it was so important for me to focus on random giving rather than expecting some reward back for my good deed.
Honestly, this changed my life in so many ways. I would also write to inmates who had just been saved to encourage them to stay strong on their walk with Christ. What a beautiful experience. When I began letter writing, I needed to fill my addiction void and move on to a healthy life.
This experience gave me the opportunity to grow closer to God, as I strived to follow His Will for my life. In other words, I filled that recovery void with my relationship with God, and it completely changed my life. A few decades later, I am a completely different person. I still do RAOKs.
What is a RAOK Day? What is RAOK Week?
It is my understanding that many days are designated as holidays. Two of the holidays that fall into this category are RAOK Day and RAOK Week. If it were a RAOK Day, that would be a day for you to participate in giving someone a RAOK. The same goes for the RAOK Week.
How to Participate in RAOK: RAOK Ideas
